The story behind the paper",敬請(qǐng)有意的同學(xué)前來(lái)”領(lǐng)取”!
Neurons form various interconnected circuits to perform different functions. The task of circuit neuroscience is to decipher these neural circuits - to document the cellular components of each individual circuit, to study how these components interact with each other to give rise to a specific function, and ultimately, to understand how a specific behavior arises through the interplay of various neural circuits. On Thursday, I'm going to describe my previous research, and how they relate to these goals of circuit neuroscience.
The main focus of my current research is to understand the mechanisms of neural processing in the mammalian visual system, starting from the retina. The retina is an attractive place to study neural circuits. I'm going to explain why that is the case, what kind of specific projects I have in mind, and what methods will be used to accomplish them.
